I remember hearing about this case as a teenager in NYC. I haven't heard Elisa's name in thirty years. I don't think I've thought of her in almost as long. As soon as I saw her name just now, it hit like a gut punch. And I remember how hard it hit back then--harder, even, than Lisa Steinberg. I was older and understood more about Elisa's case.
It's horrifying that child torture happens so much that new cases come along that fade older ones into obscurity. It shouldn't happen at all, let alone multiple times in any one person's lifetime.
