"Masterminds" we hear about aren't people who come up with the most brilliant, foolproof plans, but the people who most avoid responsibility and accountability, then live relatively unscathed to be grimy again.

Meanwhile, actual Machiavellian genius goes about its day and--whether doing good, bad or some combo--we never hear anything about it and never will. Only see and feel the results/consequences.

The wife in this case was a murderous idiot. One who nonetheless didn't get her hands dirty and, once caught with what she'd done, still skated from a murder trial with maybe four years of time served on a seven year sentence?
