THIS. Every word of it. No one says white men shouldn't be critics. People who don't know what the hell they're critiquing shouldn't be critics of that particular medium. I don't critique NBA games because I've never seen one, don't know the players and culture, don't even understand the rules of basketball. WHY would or should anyone care what I think about the game at all?

Yet so few folks ask that regarding these critics. It's more than a little ridiculous. Their shameless pandering to mediocrity (white male mediocrity, specifically) has gotten them to where they are--has paid their bills and made their names worth more than a handful of letters. Until that climate changes, these so-called critics will stay the same.
